Stainless Steel Plain Weave Square Wire Cloth

Stainless steel woven wire mesh is our featured products, SS304 and SS316 grades are very common in our factory. Plain weave (also called tabby weave, linen weave or taffeta weave) is the most basic woven type. For plain weave wire mesh, wire diameters of warp and weft wire are of equal size, and each warp wire passes alternately over and under each weft wire running horizontally through the cloth at 90 degree angles.

In plain weave, the warp and weft are aligned so they form a simple criss-cross pattern. Each weft thread crosses the warp threads by going over one, then under the next, and so on. The next weft thread goes under the warp threads that its neighbor went over, and vice versa.

Standard Terminology
Mesh Count: The numbers of apertures or wires per lineal inch. Most meshes are square and will have the same count in both warp and weft

Warp: The wire running lengthwise in a roll of mesh

Weft: The wires running across the width of the roll

Open Or Free Area: The proportion of the aperture expressed as a percentage of the whole area

Selvedge: The finished edge formed by looped weft wires at either side of the cloth

Micron: = 1/1000 mm

Materials: SS304, SS304L, SS316, SS316L and Other Stainless Steel Alloy. Aluminum, Brass, Nickel, Hastelloy and other metal are available.

Plain Weave: The most common weave, with the same diameter warp and shute wires woven in a simple over and under pattern. It produces screens with the same mesh count in both directions.
