Stainless Steel Expanded Metal Mesh

By passing the mesh through a set of heavy duty pressure rolls, the angled strands are flattened back to the original plane of the sheet. It is common that the material thickness is reduced slightly when flattened to ensure a level and even condition. Flattened mesh allows for a more consistent open area and the finished product is easier to shear to close tolerances. Fixing and welding flattened mesh is made easier due to the more two dimensional section of the mesh.

Expanded metal is manufactured by slitting and stretching (expanding) the metal sheet with a die creating diamond shaped holes. The openings are connected by metal strands called bonds, the bonds lie on top of each (Raised). The sheet is then put through a level roller where the material and bonds are flattened and pushed next to each other. Most customers order “Flat” expanded metal. “Standard” and “Regular” expanded always refers to “Raised” expanded, but never to “Flat” expanded metal.

Surface Treatment: hot-dipped, electrol galvanized, pvc-coated.

Flattened Expanded Metal is formed by flattening process based on standard expanded metal. Its strand width and bond are in the same horizontal plane with plate surface. Compared with standard expanded metal,the plate thickness will be thinner and opening will be larger.
